SightWord (“we”, “us”, or “our”) takes the protection of your personal information seriously. This Privacy Policy applies to the products and services provided by the SightWord iOS app.

1. Information We Collect

We only collect information necessary to provide and improve our service:

• Device Information: Device model, operating system version, and device identifier (used for App Attest device verification) — for security verification and service optimization.
• Usage Data: App usage statistics (study duration, recognition count, etc.) — to improve the product experience.
• Account Settings: Language preferences and proficiency level selected in your learning settings — to personalize your learning content.
• Captured Photos: Photos taken through the camera are used solely within the app for object recognition and are never uploaded to our servers. We do not store your captured photos or video content in any form.
• Subscription Information: Premium subscription status processed via the Apple App Store — to confirm your membership benefits.

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or other personally identifiable information, unless you proactively contact us through the “Feedback” feature.

2. How We Use Information

The information we collect is used for the following purposes:

• Providing, maintaining, and improving SightWord's core features
• Device security verification (App Attest) to prevent abuse and fraud
• Personalizing your learning experience (e.g., recommending content based on proficiency)
• Analyzing app usage to optimize product design and features
• Sending local notifications when you enable study or review reminders
• Responding to your feedback and support requests
• Processing photos you take using AI large model technology for on-device object recognition. Photo content is not retained after recognition is complete.

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:

• Service Providers: We use the Apple App Store to process subscription payments. Apple handles the relevant data according to its own privacy policy.
• Legal Requirements: We may be required to disclose your information when required by law, legal process, or government request.
• Safety & Protection: When necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of us or our users.

4. Data Storage & Security

We follow a “local-first” principle: your learning data, captured photos, and preferences are stored primarily on your device. Server communication only occurs when necessary (e.g., subscription verification).

We take reasonable technical and administrative measures to protect your information:

• All network communications are encrypted via HTTPS
• On-device verification (App Attest) ensures requests come from trusted sources
• Data access is strictly limited to authorized personnel for necessary purposes only

5. Children's Privacy

SightWord is designed for learners of all ages, including children under 13. We take children's privacy especially seriously:

• We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13
• We do not display targeted advertising to children within the app
• Parents or guardians may contact us to review, modify, or delete their child's information

6. Your Rights

Under applicable law, you have the following rights:

• Right of Access: You may request information about what data we hold about you.
• Right to Deletion: You may request that we delete information we hold about you.
• Right to Correction: You may request correction of inaccurate personal information.
• Right to Withdraw Consent: You may withdraw consent previously given at any time.

data is stored locally on your device and can be completely erased by deleting the app.

7. Cookies & Tracking

SightWord does not use cookies or similar tracking technologies. We do not use third-party analytics SDKs to track your behavior, and we do not display personalized advertisements.

The app may use anonymized, system-level usage statistics provided by Apple (App Analytics). This data is aggregated and cannot identify individuals. You can manage this option in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.

8. Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via:

• In-app pop-up or notification
• Updating the “Last Updated” date on this page

Continued use of the app constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
